Take a look at the photo on the left. You can see that while the left foot is standing straight, the right foot is clearly leaning outwards. In this state, her landings go into a back out, combination jumps are difficult to pull off, and loop jumps are uncomfortable. In addition, continuous skating while leaning like this can lead to a tenovaginitis-like pain in the sole of the foot or a fatigue fracture of the ankle. However, by properly adjusting the skates to avoid these problems, she is able to stand up straight as shown in the photo on the right.
